InfoLab21 will be recruiting for The Accelerator Programme in the New Year. This will be an opportunity for companies to think strategically about ICT to transform their business and develop a new business plan to include relevant ICT adoption and best practice. Please see future editions of InfoTextX for further information.
The Accelerator programme is part of ISIS (InfoLab21’s Strategic Innovation Support Programme) which is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is the first project of its kind in the UK. ISIS is delivered under the “Transformational ICT” product, part of the Government’s Solutions for Business portfolio, a highly targeted, publically funded suite of products and services offering solutions to real business needs.
CableSense Ltd have secured a £500,000 investment from the UMIP Premier Fund (UPF) to bring to market an innovative intelligent cable infrastructure management system.
Kinetic Cubed, a resident company of InfoLab21, has signed a deal with the Invest in Brussels agency to help attract inward investment from the UK into the Brussels City region. Director Mark Beresford states why UK ICT companies should use Brussels as a gateway to European expansion.
Pioneering technology from InfoLab21 is being showcased at Lancaster Library. Library goers are able to record their views via telephone before a computer converts their words into a written message. Everyone in the library can see the comments on large plasma TV screens along with a coloured orb indicating positive or negative remarks.
The BBC plans to make £500,000 available to commission up to four new pilots of interactive content for CBeebies and CBBC in a new initiative called @North.
A new package of measures to ensure that women have the support and confidence to maximise their business potential has been launched in response to recommendations by the Women's Enterprise Taskforce (WETF).

ICT Focus still have a few places on their Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician course running 14-18 December 2009. This will be the last time these courses run in XP, before upgrading to Win7.
New courses for the New Year include Exchange 2007, Security and UBUNTU training. The new version of PRINCE2 (Project Management Training), Foundation and Practitioner certification, will be scheduled early next year.
Moonloft is a Web and Graphic design company based in Lancaster providing creative designs for businesses, organisations and individuals. Services include Moonloft's Launch Package (logo, business cards and website) to help get new companies off the ground.
21media innovations ltd is an InfoLab21 spin-out company specialising in interactive systems and applications for Digital and Internet based Television Systems (IPTV). The company is operated by Dr. Keith Mitchell and Dr. Nicholas Race from the Computing Department.

The British Computer Society (BCS) says 80% of Britain is not “IT savvy” so they have launched a website to help people get the most out of computers and the Internet. Over the course of a year they will be discussing eight topics that touch on every aspect of the Information Society in our lives, starting with safety.
